Step 1 What is a nol Card or nol Red Ticket?

To travel on the Tram you need to buy a nol Card or a nol Red Ticket. There are 5 options available, find out which one will suit you best on the next page. It’s easy to buy or top-up a card, or add trips to your nol Red Ticket. Just go to a Ticket Vending Machine, Metro Ticket Office or RTA authorised sales agent. Step 4 shows you their locations in Dubai. Each time you travel, tap your card on the validator and it will automatically deduct the correct fare. It’s easy! 16

REMEMBER TO CHECK-IN AND CHECK OUT! Failing to do so carries a fine of AED 200. Validate your nol ticket or card (using trips,epurse,passes or products) on the nol validator before and after travel on dubai tram.

nol Red Ticket For tourists and visitors • Paper ticket costs AED2 with at least 1 trip to be loaded and valid for 90 days. • Rechargeable for use of a maximum of 10 journeys or 5 daily passes. • The same ticket can be used for Metro, Tram and Buses – there’s no need to get another new ticket. • Daily pass allows an unlimitted number of trips during a single day. (at cost of AED 20 for the pass and AED 2 for the ticket). • Ideal for occasional or casual users of public transport. • Does not have an e-purse account available and must be pre-paid with the correct journey type, based on the zones to be travelled.

The Dubai Tram is specially designed to be one of the safest modes of public transport in the world, but extra awareness should still be exercised when riding it. TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF YOURSELF AND OTHERS FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE POINTS:

• The Tram runs on ground level so before entering the station stay alert to approaching Trams • The Tram also has priority on the roads, so pay attention to signal lights • The track may not look wide but the Tram is, keep a safe distance at all times • When crossing the track look for designated pedestrian crossing points

• When travelling on the Tram remain seated until the Tram stops at your destination

• Avoid using headphones or talking on cell phones near the tracks as they may distract you

• If standing, hold on tight while the Tram is moving

• Follow instructions from Tram officials, they know what’s best

• Do not distract the driver while the Tram is moving • Do not interfere with the Tram or Station doors • No running on the platform • Let passengers disembark before boarding • In an emergency, press the intercom to speak to an emergency operator • Do not lean against the doors 26

CYCLIST SAFETY NEAR DUBAI TRAM

• You must not stop or park your vehicle where it could get in the way of a Tram or other road users • Do not enter a junction when traffic lights are set to Amber or Red – doing so is a serious and punishable offence

• Do not cycle along the Tram corridor as wheels may get stuck in the tracks

• Be extra careful where the Tram track crosses a road as Trams have their own signals

• Do not follow the Tram corridor to make sure they do not lead you to a route reserved for the Tram

• Always give way to Trams when they signal to pull away from stations or at intersections

Fare AED 200 • Using Public Transport and Public Transport Facilities and Services, or entry into/exit from areas where fare is applicable, without payment of the applicable fare. • Failure to present the Unified Card upon request. • Using a card designated for others. • Using an expired card. • Using an invalid card. • Selling Unified Cards without prior permission from the Authority. AED 500 • Using Counterfeit card.

Behavioral AED 100 • Causing a disturbance or inconvenience in any way to users of Public Transport and Public Facilities and Services. • Accessing or sitting in areas designated for specific categories. • Eating and Drinking in areas where eating and drinking are not allowed. AED 300 • Sleeping in passenger shelters or any place where sleeping is prohibited. AED 2000 • Damaging, vandalising or destroying equipment or seats on Public Transport and Public Transport Facilities and Services. AED 100 per day & Up to 1000 • Parking vehicles in areas designated for metro users for a period exceeding the permitted period.

AED 1000 • Carrying hazardous items, including weapons, sharp tools or inflammable materials, inside Public Transport and Public Transport Facilities and Services. AED 2000 • Using any security or safety device or tool, including emergency exits where it is not necessary.

Info 6 Etiquette Don’t:   Forget to tap your card on Nol validator to check-in and check-out.  Disregard the signage to ensure you are in the right cabin.  Eat, drink or chewing gum on board.  Lean against Tram doors.  Forget to safe guard your personal belongings.

Do’s:  Queue on the sides of the platform doors and allow passengers to get off the tram before you get on.  Give priority to elderly, pregnant women and disabled in the trams and lifts.  Respect etiquette guidelines to wear respectful clothing and no public display of affection.  Put your large size bag down to free space for others.  Talk with soft voice to keep comfortable environment for others.
