Marketing Assistant Fund Development and Communications April 2017

COMMON FUNCTION: The YWCA is a community-based organization with over 100 years of experience in Banff and the Bow Valley. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the YWCA addresses issues of violence prevention through the Bow Valley Women’s Emergency Shelter program; sustainable housing, healthy relationships and related advocacy issues. Our three pillars of operations are Programs and Services, Sustainable Housing and the YWCA Banff Hotel. We welcome women, men, trans* and non-binary people who demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to working towards a safe, inclusive and positive community.

REPORTS TO:

Marketing and Communications Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-secondary degree in marketing, event management, public relations, graphic design or related field with at least one year of experience, preferably in a non-profit or hospitality environment

PROBATION PERIOD:

Six-month probation period

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Full-time position (30-37.5 hrs/week)

OVERVIEW: The Marketing Assistant plays a key role in supporting the YWCA Banff Hotel, special events, fundraising and community outreach; generating success for the overall organization as we work to achieve our strategic priorities and annual goals. We are looking for a talented, energetic person who connects with the YWCA mission and is interested in the social profit world! The position is ideal for recent grad who is looking for an opportunity to develop their craft through hard work and participation in a variety of projects.

Responsibilities • Assist in developing and implementing a marketing plan for the YWCA Banff Hotel • Generate accurate, relevant content for the YWCA Banff website and social media outlets • Provides basic graphic design support for marketing, events and Fund Development projects • Provide support to special events and outreach Skills and Attributes • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress is essential • Experience with social media marketing and website management is essential • Confident writing skills both for web and print projects • Effective ability to multi-task within a busy work environment • Proven strong attention to detail and organizational skills • Experience in the hospitality sector is an asset • Positive, energized person who is ready for an opportunity to get involved in an exciting organization and a job that offers major potential Please send resumes to: Maureen Van Tassell [email protected] Deadline: May 24, 2017
