Zoonosis* Spencer Talley, PharmD, DVM, Medical Director, Pet Vet Clinic, Cartersville, GA This activity will increase audience awareness of emerging zoonotic diseases to help promote public health safety. This session is approved by RACE to provide CE to veterinarians and veterinary technicians. At the conclusion of this program, the participating pharmacist or technician will be able to: • • • •

Define zoonosis, metazoonosis, sapronoses Give two examples of how zoonotic diseases can be spread Name two high risk zoonotic parasites commonly seen in veterinary hospitals Name an important zoonotic infection that can put pregnant women and their fetus at risk

Spencer Talley, PharmD, DVM, Medical Director, Pet Vet Clinic, Cartersville, GA Dr. Spencer Tally is currently the Medical Director of Pet Vet Clinic, an AAHA accredited veterinary hospital in Cartersville, GA. Dr. Tally received his BS and Pharm D degree from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. He received his DVM degree from Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine. He worked in the Atlanta area for ten years in both pharmacy and veterinary medicine prior to joining the medical staff of Pet Vet Clinic of Cartersville in 2001. Dr. Tally has a pharmacy license in Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi and a veterinary license in Georgia and Florida. He is a member of the Georgia Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, Atlanta Academy of Institutional Pharmacy, Georgia Pharmaceutical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. He is Past President of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and Current Treasurer of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.

The Veterinary Compounding Conference has been approved for 11 contact hours (1.1 CEUs) of continuing education credit. Attendees will be requested to provide their NABP e-Profile ID and birth date (MMDD) to receive credit for any ACPE-accredited CPE continuing education session and complete an evaluation form for each CE session. All sessions carrying the ACPE program number are approved for continuing education credit. The American College of Apothecaries, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
