What this document is

What Do Graduates Do? was an annual UK publication tracking what graduates from higher education were doing roughly six months after finishing their degrees, breaking results down by subject studied, type of employment and further study. The 2012 edition drew on the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey and was aimed at careers advisers, students and researchers trying to understand graduate labor market outcomes subject by subject.

The report was produced by the Higher Education Careers Services Unit, known as HECSU, which also ran the Prospects graduate careers service and commissioned related statistical research on graduate destinations.

HECSU no longer exists as a separate organization. It merged with the digital education charity Jisc and its Prospects service, and the What Do Graduates Do? series has continued under Prospects' Luminate research arm, which publishes updated editions each year using the same underlying graduate outcomes data. Readers looking for figures from the 2012 edition specifically can request back copies through Prospects' research team rather than finding a live copy online.
