What this document is
Uganda's National Population and Housing Census 2014 Main Report is the primary output of the country's most recent full census before 2024, carried out by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) and formally published in 2016. It presents the national population count and the demographic and socio-economic indicators the census exists to produce, and it became the reference dataset used for national planning, resource allocation and constituency-level administration in the years that followed.
Population censuses, according to UBOS's own account in the report, remain the country's main source of demographic data alongside smaller surveys and administrative records. The bureau credits the media with raising public awareness ahead of the count and thanks the individual respondents who answered the census questions, a detail included in the report's foreword.
UBOS has since moved on to the National Population and Housing Census 2024, whose results and dissemination materials are now the bureau's main focus. The 2014 Main Report and its regional companion volumes remain archived on UBOS's own publications listing alongside the newer data.
