How To Register In-person or by mail: 1. Complete a registration form on the last page of this brochure. If registering for more than one program, a separate form must be completed for each program. 2. In-Person: Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1 (spring cycle) and May 3 (summer) registration for Ocean residents will take place at the Dept. of Human Services office. Staff will register walk-ins in the order in which they are received. Registrants must remain onsite until registration is completed. 3. By Mail: Registrations received by mail on March 1 and May 3 will be processed in random order throughout the day. Forms received before registration begins will be returned unprocessed. Online Registration: If you have previously registered for programs, a family account is already set up for you. If you don’t know your user name and password, call 732-531-2600 for assistance prior to registration dates. First-time registrants, follow the instructions below to create an account using CommunityPass. 1. Go to www.oceantwp.org and click on the Recreation & Counseling tab. Click on “Click Here to Register for Programs” OR logon directly to https://register.communitypass.net/oceantwp. Follow instructions to create an account or skip to Step 2 if you already have an account. 2. Login with your user name & password, select “Browse Activities” and choose the appropriate category. 3. Verify that your family account information is accurate. Verify your email address. 4. Select participants: Add additional family members here. Select the members you wish to register to view programs available. Volunteer coaches & assistants can also register here. 5. Select from the list of age/grade appropriate programs displayed for each family member. Click on the activities and view “details” to the right of the program name. 6. Complete the registration for each participant. Review your information and pay using Visa or Mastercard. Confirmation will be sent to your email address. Questions? Golfing is not permitted on softball or soccer fields. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted unless special arrangements are made at Dept. of Human Services. Dispose of trash and recyclables in appropriate containers.

Tennis Court Reservation & Use Procedures Courts at Wanamassa, Wayside and Oakhurst Parks are open 8:00 a.m. to dusk. Courts at the Community Pool and Tennis Facility are for use by members or those who pay the daily fee.  Residents may reserve court time at Oakhurst, Wanamassa and Wayside parks April 15 - October 15.  Players are limited to one hour of reserved court time per day. Reserve up to one week in advance by contacting the Recreation Office Monday through Friday, before 3:45 p.m. (Court time scheduled on the hour). Reservations ARE NOT accepted for the same day as the call. Player’s name will be requested at time of reservation. Reservation sheets will be posted each morning at the appropriate location.  Walk-ons can play on a first come basis if court is not previously reserved. Walk-on use is limited to one hour (on the hour) if others are waiting to play. Walk-ons must vacate the courts any time they are reserved. 

Softball Field Use Residents may reserve 2 hour blocks of time. Reservations accepted no more than 1 week in advance of requested date. Fields are available for use as of April 15 (weather permitting). Contact Recreation Office for additional information and requirements. Fees apply for use of the softball/ baseball fields at the Wanamassa Fireman’s Memorial Park Complex. 2

Project Extend Before & After School Care

K - 8th grades Enriching and affordable child care is offered through the Department of Human Services. Trained professional staff supervise a variety of activities to promote social interaction and safe fun for children. Eligibility: Project Extend serves children in grades K-8 who attend Township of Ocean Public Schools. Hours: Before School Project Extend for students in grades K-4 is held from 7:00 am until the start of the school day on days Township schools are in session. After School Project Extend for students in grades K-8 begins at the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m. on days Township schools are in session.

Project Extend Holiday Care

K - 8th grades Full day child care is offered on the Township of Ocean school holidays listed below. Children spend the day being active, having fun with friends and making new friends in a safe and supervised environment. Dates: Time:

April 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 & 17, June 2* Drop off as early as 7:00 am. Pick up by 6:00 pm. Location: Ocean Township Elementary School 555 Dow Ave. *(June 2 at Wayside School, Bowne Rd.) Fee: $30 per day (residents) $35 per day (non-residents) Registration: Open until one week prior to first date of each program or until filled.

Important information: 1. Minimum enrollment must be met by registration deadline or Holiday Care may be canceled. Registration is now in progress. 2. Families currently registered for Project Extend can register for Holiday Care online using Community Pass or at the Department of Human Services. 3. Families not registered for Project Extend must complete registration forms and submit a one-time registration fee of $40 prior to enrolling for Holiday Care. 4. Fees are not refundable or transferable as of the close of registration. Refund requests must be made in writing. 5. Send participants with a non-perishable lunch and snacks. Please be sure children are dressed for outdoor activities. 3

Morning Recreation

The Varsity Club

Youth entering grades 1-8 in September 2017

Recognizing the changing needs of young teens, the Varsity Club for youth entering grades 6-8 offers agespecific activities and opportunities. A trip to the Blue Claws, Laser Tag and Freedom Fest Fair are examples of programs which were offered in 2016. Seventh and eighth grade registrants will also be involved in the Girls’ Circle/ The Council, a supervised program designed to build selfconfidence, communication skills and positive connections with others. For information about the Varsity Club please call the Recreation Office at (732) 531-2600.

Spend weekday summer mornings participating in a variety of activities including: park activities, crafts, sports, field trips and swimming. The Oakhurst Meeting room, West Park Recreation Center, Municipal Gymnasium and the Ocean Community Pool & Tennis Facility will also be used daily for this summer program. Participants in grades 6-8 are considered the “Varsity Club.” For more info please see the Varsity Club on this page.

Once established, bus schedules cannot be altered to accommodate late registrants. Schedules will be forwarded to registrants one week prior to the start of each session. Project Extend Summer Care Early morning and afternoon programs are available to extend the participant’s Morning Recreation program at Ocean Township Elementary School. Care is available 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. and 12 noon - 6:00 p.m. Participants must enroll in and pay the appropriate fee for the corresponding session(s) of Morning Recreation. There is no bus transportation available with this extended day program. Program dates and locations: Correspond to Morning Recreation sessions. (see above) Fee: Session 1: $135/session (residents); $160/session (non-residents) Session 2 & 3: $165/session (residents); $190/session (non-residents) Payment in full or a non-refundable $20 deposit per child/session is accepted at time of registration. Join our group leader, Ms. Lori, to enjoy songs and free play under parental supervision. Activities include painting, blocks and balls, play-dough, crafts and even edible treats. Bring a smock and a smile and come play at Messy School! Please note any food allergies at time of registration. Infant siblings may attend at no fee. Class size is limited.

This dance class has a little of everything. Children are introduced to basic ballet movements as well fun hip hop moves to develop coordination skills and rhythm. Children should wear clothing that is comfortable for dance and sneakers. Our instructor is Joanne McKenna of “The Studio.” Please note, this is not a parent/child

Musical Me 12 months - 5 years (Parent & Child Program)

NEW!! Pre-K Co-ed Soccer 4 & 5 year olds (age as of 9/1) Each week the program supervisor, with hands-on help from “volunteer coaches,” will offer a 30-minute clinic followed by a 20-minute game. Children are encouraged to bring a #3 soccer ball to the program each week (labeled with child’s name).

Swim Lessons at Ocean Community Pool & Tennis Swim lessons are offered at the Community Pool for facility members and/or residents of Ocean Township. Children will learn to swim or improve their skills. A schedule of classes is available at oceantwp.org, the Department of Human Services or at the Pool and Tennis Facility when open. Classes for beginners to advanced swimmers include: Introduction to Water Skills, Fundamental Aquatic Skills, Stroke Development and Diving.

Adult supervision needed. If interested in helping please register as a Volunteer Coach - Pre-K division. Drawing & Watercolors 2nd - 6th grade

Open Gym Adult with Child(ren)

Theresa Joseph Trocchia will introduce beginners to the art of drawing & watercolors. Students will receive basic instruction on the use of drawing pencils, pads, blending stumps and other materials. Emphasis is placed on shadows, sources of light and composition. Use of watercolors, applied with various brushes and techniques, will also be introduced. All materials will be provided for the students’ use during class. Please note this is not a continuation of previous sessions. This program will cover the same basic coursework as our previous sessions. Bring your child(ren) in for some one on one time on the basketball court. The municipal gym will be available for adult/children “shoot around” time. Adults must register for the program and are required to stay on site with their child(ren). No need to register individual children. Not intended for team practices but quality parent/child time! Is your teen ready for a summer activity? Join us on Saturday mornings for a tennis program designed for special needs youth. Participants will learn the basics of tennis under the supervision of a facility tennis pro. Volunteers needed to assist. Saturdays, June 3 - July 8 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.

Youth Golf Lessons

The PGA Junior League at William F. Larkin Golf Course at Colonial Terrace is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity open to youth ages 7 - 13 of any ability. Led by Golf Pro Dale Shankland, league members will play at some of the best golf courses in the area. The program is recreational and developmental, giving players an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and learn from their peers. Registration begins in February. Beginner Meditation

Power Yoga

This meditation series is open to beginners and those wanting to create a regular meditation practice. The class will focus on yogic meditation and offer tips and techniques to create a regular meditation practice. Participants will learn yogic breathing techniques to aid in quieting the mind. Youth, 12 -16 years of age, may register with a participating adult.

Stretch, strengthen and lengthen your body during this one-hour studio style vinyasa flow with instructor September McCarthy. Participants will build muscle and endurance while gaining mind-body awareness and connectivity. All levels and abilities are welcome. Youth 12 -16 years old may register with a participating adult. Residents age 55 and older meet on the 1st & 3rd Mondays at the West Park Recreation Center, 1:30 - 3:45 p.m. Speakers are scheduled, bus trips planned and holiday events are organized. Contact Lenore Stinett , 732-663-0039 for additional information.

The Terner Gallery is located in the Township Public Library and exhibits works by local artists throughout the year. The Gallery is open to the public during the library’s regular operating hours. Opening receptions are held on Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. and exhibits run approximately 7 weeks for visitors to enjoy. Admission is free to all events.

Learn to golf in just one week Adults with little or no golf experience can learn to play in five lessons. This industry-wide player development program provides basic skills instruction and information regarding the background of the game’s rules, etiquette and values. Swim lessons for youth to learn to swim or improve their skills are offered for members and residents. Classes for beginners to advanced swimmers include: Introduction to Water Skills, Fundamental Aquatic Skills, Stroke Development, and Diving.

Tennis Lessons and Camps Although the Outdoor Tennis courts will not be available for the 2017 season, Andre Blanquer will offer tennis lessons, camps, clinics and special events at the Oakhurst Park courts. The Tennis brochure is available at oceantwp.org or at the Department of Human Services.

Job Bank for Adults & Teens Seasonal positions are available through the Recreation Office and the Department of Public Works. Positions include: Park and Pool Maintenance, Program Supervisors, Pool Recreation Personnel, Pool Front Office, Pool Snack Bar, Full and Half Day Recreation Counselors. Applications for seasonal positions within the Recreation Office will be accepted February through early April. Job descriptions and applications are available to download at www.oceantwp.org. Picnic Grove The picnic grove can be reserved for family & corporate functions. Mature trees provide shade and charcoal grills are available for use. For information and reservations contact the Department of Human Services on or after February 24, or speak to the staff at the pool. 16

Ocean Community Pool & Tennis Facility

Outdoor Tennis courts will not be available for the 2017 season. Tennis lessons, camps, clinics & special events will be offered at the Oakhurst Park courts. Information is available March 15 at oceantwp.org or at the Department of Human Services. Construction of new outdoor courts as well as the Activity Pool is slated to begin late 2017.
